 Aaliya's grandmother becomes the head of the house thanks to her colorful Sartaj, who has no one to stop her. The story begins with Aliya whose father holds a high position in a government organization. 
The story begins with a change of house when Aaliya's father is in jail for the murder of his British officer and Aaliya and her proud mother are forced to move to the house of an economically inferior uncle. become As their belongings are being arranged in the small house, Aaliya is haunted by past memories of how they moved from their native village to a bungalow in the city that was given to her father by the government. 
In this novel, the story is narrated by Alia through flashbacks. Mianji (Alia's grandfather) had three sons, Mazhar, and Azhar. Mianji also had two adulterous wives, among whose children Asrar Mian is mentioned frequently in this novel. Mianji has two daughters Salmi and Najma. Mazhar Mian is married to a girl from a poor family, with whom he has two sons, Jameel and Shakeel. Azhar Mian is married to a girl from an affluent and educated family, with whom he has two daughters, Tehmina and Aaliyah. Manjhale Chacha has three marriages out of which one is married to a wife who lives in Mazhar Chacha's house.

 Aaliya's great-aunt elopes with her servant Subhan and gets married. Salmi's maternal grandmother dies during childbirth and Azhar brings the newborn child with him. Salmi's death has made Dadi Jan semi-crazy and her initial fear is no longer there. His authority in the mansion was limited, while his respect in the village continued to be limited. Soon after Mianji's death, he had to pack up his sackcloth and move to the cities. 
 As soon as Mazhar's uncle moved to the city, his interest in politics started to increase loudly, now even Grandma used to remember Salmi lying on the cot suffering from asthma. That's why there was no one left to prevent them, Najma's aunt Zra Brar didn't care about them, the wealth went out of hand, but they couldn't get out of it. 
Mazhar Chacha quickly started spending his wealth on politics, the wealth started being spent on processions held for the sake of Congress and Hindu-Muslim unity. Asrar Mian, being the son of a prostitute, had a status lower than a dog, despite so much hard work and support in every bad time, he had no time in the house even when he was the uncle of the children. However, they were kept away from children.
